FOOD and drink businesses from throughout the county are being invited to a special event ahead of a historic vote on whether to introduce agroundbreaking food and drink Business Improvement District (BID).
Ballot papers and a business plan have been issued to all eligible food and drink producers ahead of a decision being made next month.
On Tuesday, food and drink producers are invited to Haddington’s Maitlandfield House Hotel at 6pm to find out more about the scheme.
If successful, the East Lothian Food and Drink BID, backed by East Lothian Council, will promote East Lothian food and drink, support local business and create a unified voice to market themselves and East Lothian as quality providers of outstanding produce.
Mary Contini, food writer and director of Edinburgh’s award-winning Italian deli Valvona and Crolla, has lived in East Lothian all her life and is backing the food and drink BID.
